There was however an absolutely smashing Christmas Eve Party at The Springbloom, since I obviously had to leave this house wifing business with a bang. The dinner itself, with homemade recipes from both casa de Eurenius/Dagnell and clan a la Moeller with a small addition of Gordon Ramsey’s Christmas Special + all the fantastic help from glorious friends, was an absolute success!
I however don’t know what to make of the first sign of Christmas at our condo: they decided to hang The Snowman, which I don’t really agree on being the most Christian thing to do during the holiday seasons n' all
Mum: if you come next year for Christmas, you must wear a leash; I can find my almost 2m tall husband in any Asian crowd, but in Singapore they are not as small as in Japan and then I might lose someone your size. And if Daggan is tagging along, we are so putting a biking flag on her
..until we realized we had not actually celebrated a proper Christmas since 2008 and we needed a tree
I was also astonished by all the absolutely foul decorations almost plunging out of the stores in some areas; I mean, I feel really sorry for the dude in red in the far left lower corner, who’s clearly not interested in making out with that bearded fellow holding his arm around him
As the Christmas cheer started spreading in The Springbloom #06-02, so did apparently the creativity
..placing the highly personal ‘star’ on the top (this is another reason why it’s highly practical with tall men, but you have to feed them a lot)..
Some people in our marriage also thought we needed ‘Donald Duck’s Christmas’ from Sweden, or ‘there would be no real Christmas feeling’
There were of course the proper Christmas food, such as herring, lax, gravlaxsas, cheese, meat balls, prinskorv, ham, mustard, vortbrod, potatoes, knackebrod, egg halves, Janssons, ribs, ris a la Malta, fudge, knack, ice chocolate, truffles, mulled wine..
For some it was the first Swedish Christmas ever, so ‘The Christmas Gift Game’ and ‘Put the Tail on the Pig’ came as slight surprices
The only problem was keeping some things cold, especially since at ca 22.00 the fridge broke down; this was however solved with previously prepped ice baths for drinks and the fact that we almost finished all food
Thank you all for making our first Christmas in Singapore a nite to remember!
